Upper Madison College

Upper Madison College (UMC) is a language school founded in 2004, accredited by Languages Canada and the Association of Language Travel Organizations (ALTO), that offers English as Second Language and French as Second Language for students and professionals.

UMC has three campuses, two in Toronto located at different points of the famous Yonge Street, and the third in Montreal, inside the entertainment district of the city. All campuses are just steps away from subway stations, and students can visit shopping centers, restaurants, libraries, theaters and more, located at walking distance.

The school also has signed educational cooperation agreements with several universities and high schools that endorse and support the High School and University Pathway programs.

  • English as Second Language (ESL) consists of 9 levels each one with a duration of four weeks. Students must take a placement test upon arrival to be placed in the corresponding level.
  • General French (FSL) is composed by beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The classes are designed to maximize students learning using effective teaching techniques, where teachers provide tools to ensure the language acquisition.
  • The Business English program is one of the favorites of students because they not only learn to speak and write professionally but also offers them real opportunities to practice through class projects and presentations. The duration of this program is eight weeks.
  • The exam preparation programs ensure the successful approval of the IELTS and TOEFL tests. The duration of these courses is 12 weeks (3 levels).
  • In Montreal is available the program of preparation for TCFaQ test, which consists of six weeks of classes that guarantee a C1 level of French needed to pass the exam.
  • The English Academic Program (EAP) lasts 12 weeks and prepares students to enter to college or university. UMC is associated with a variety of academic institutions in Canada, the United States and Europe. Students who successfully complete and pass the program can enter to any of these institutions directly without presenting any standard language proficiency test such as TOEFL or IELTS.
